Last May we visited Taormina, a quaint ancient village in Sicily over looking the Mediterranean Sea at the foothills of Mount Etna.
… Southern Italy‘s coastal landscape is absolutely stunning! The ancient world, Epic views, The warm sun, the Sandy Beaches meets the rugged seaside of the Mediterranean landscape and Classic Italian food. I love that they prepared their pizza with the most delicious Pistachio Pesto and topped it with Parma Ham and Pistachio bits… So yummy!
This Charming city has a very interesting Ancient history. There are reminders of this all around you. Oh and there’s Mount Edna in the distance…What is not to love here?
We had the luxury of eating homemade delights at our house on the coast of Giardini Naxos made by our in home chef. Many of our dishes we classic Sicilian. We had so much amazing food. The memorable foods for me were Arancini di riso, Sweet Bread with Italian ice flavored with coffee and sweet cream…that was an interesting new one for me!
Kiwi was growing everywhere and it was peaking in the season so we had in in salads with fish and with meats and cheeses… My favorite meal in Taormina had to have been the squid ink risotto with fresh catch of the day, perfectly cooked Veggies decorated with nasturtium flowers known to grow along the Mediterranean in the summer. It was so fresh, delicious and beautiful.
2018 Taormina, Italy Food and Wine Festival, Cibo Nostrum
Our May Vacation in 2018 Started in Tuscany. The fabulous old world of Siena. Rolling hills neighborhoods and structures built in the mid evil times, quaint narrow streets, rich culture, sweeping views beyond the ancient city walls… Really wonderful people and the most amazing food and wine! The perfect place to set the scene for our Self guided Tuscan Wine tour. #Brettplansthevacay #Happyclouds #livetotravel
Tuscan Vertical Wine Tasting was the way to go… Especially if you are looking for an education on how to taste wine. I highly recommend checking out Castiglion Del Bosco for the Brunello vertical tasting.
